Art+Deco, Part I
Photo Essay, Photography, Architecture, Art Deco, Potts Point, Sydney, Australia
Potts Point sits on the edge of a ridge, which was used for tens of thousands of years by the indigenous peoples of the area. In the 1920s it became a melting pot for immigrants, artists, musicians, writers and a veritable eclectic bohemian melting pot. It also became an architectural marvel with the introduction of art deco and modernist apartment buildings. Today it represents the greatest concentration of art deco architecture in the Southern hemisphere. I love wandering around the area with my camera and unearthing gems in this rich Sydney vein.
