Composed Upon The Frontier, 11th June 2024

Originally called Tumbalong by the Eora people, for 'place where seafood is found', Darling Harbour was the frontier between the Gadigal and Wangal clans. I infused myself in the area for a weekend and made these photos.
The title for this essay was inspired by William Wordsworth's poem "Composed Upon Westminster Bridge" and seeks to create a link between the beauty of the city and its architecture, its walkways, steps and roads and the cadence at which it vibrates as a whole - the link between: architecture and poetry, history and culture, place and time.
Where, though, is the frontier for us today? For me, the frontier is finding beauty in the every day, expressing the freedom of being able to move about and observe life gliding by in this wonderful city, which to channel Wordsworth: wears its beauty like a garment.
Where is your frontier?
