Nelson and Bronte, a Seascape Photo Essay
Photographic Essay, Fine Art, Leica, Seascape, Beach Art, Ocean Photography
British Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson was awarded the title Duke of Bronte by the King of Naples in 1799. He then signed his named as "Nelson and Bronte". Fast forward a few decades and on the far side of the world, a beach was named after him. Originally named Nelson Bay, this was eventually replaced with Bronte Beach. This Eastern Suburbs of Sydney beach has a popular 30 metre ocean pool, a bogey (swimming) hole and is home to the oldest surf lifesaving club in the world. The Bronte Surf Lifesaving Club was formed in 1903. I made these photos for the Sand in our Soul Series on a recent big swell day.

"Watching the Lineup" is hands down my favourite photo! Your choice to make the colours of the waves and the person standing pop like that, is really provocative.
